Services at the General Hospital in Panchkula are breaking down and the situation is evident from the recent chaos that followed the Mallah road accident.
Basic facilities like stretchers were unavailable for victims who were rushed here after the bus they were travelling in fell in a deep gorge.
On Tuesday,a victim of a minor accident had to leave the hospital after reportedly not being attended for hours.
The condition at the hospital is worse than ever before. Initially the residents could at least expect first aid. Now,even that is a distant dream. My niece met with an accident on Tuesday and fractured her nose,but neither was there any doctor available to attend us nor was the X-Ray department working, said Davinder Kumar,a resident of Mansa Devi Complex,Sector 5.

Kumar later rushed his niece to General Hospital in Sector 16,Chandigarh.
Newsline contacted the relative of a victim of the Mallah road accident,Suresh Verma,who also rued the deteriorating healthcare system at the hospital.
The day the accident took place,neither could we find enough beds for victims nor were any doctors available. The ongoing renovation work at the General Hospital is another problem. There was lot of chaos at the hospital making it difficult for us to even locate our children, said the relative.
He added that toilets at the hospital were also found leaking and emanating stench.
Medical Superintendent of the General Hospital Dr V K Bansal said: X-Rays are done round-the-clock at the hospital and emergency and ECG lab services are also provided under one roof. The hygiene here is also taken care off. In case any patient faces a problem,they can come to us and we will immediately look into the matter.
