In June,city received only 5 pc of normal rainfall

The city has suffered a 95 per cent deficit of rainfall from June 1 till date. While the normal rainfall in Chandigarh during this period is 141.8 mm,this year,the city received just 7.2 mm of rain. The Met Department,however,has predicted the occurrence of rainfall within the next 48 hours and added that in the coming days,the day temperatures will fall.

Over the past few days,while the day temperature has dipped below 40 degrees,the high temperature at night has caused considerable inconvenience to city residents. The maximum temperature recorded in the city on Tuesday was 37.6 degrees,two degrees above normal,while the minimum temperature was 31.8 degrees,seven degrees above normal. There has been a steady rise in the minimum temperature over the past few days.
