Akhil sets up LIC ‘Junior’ win
A fine all-round performance by Akhil Kumar (51 and 3 for 18) enabled LIC ‘Junior’ team to an emphatic nine-wicket win over Police DAV Public School,Ambala in a league match of the Second BTS Gold Cup for Under-14,organised by Professional Cricket Club at Banyan Tree School,in Chandigarh on Sunday. Police DAV Public School,Ambala won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first,Police DAV Public School were bundled out for a total of 109 runs in 19.4 overs. For LIC ‘Junior’ team,Akhil claimed three wickets for 18 runs while Arjun claimed two wickets for 22 runs. Chasing an easy target of 110 runs in the allotted 25 overs,LIC ‘Junior’ team reached the target for the loss of just on wicket in 15 overs. Akhil played a fine knock of 51 runs off 42 runs and guided his team to win. In the second match of the day,NICS,Patiala scored a four-wicket win over MCA,Mohali. The Mohali team won the toss and elected to bat first but their decision proved to be a wrong decision as they were bundled out for a paltry total of 81 runs in 20.5 overs.

In reply,NICS,Patiala reached the target for the loss of six wickets in 18.1 overs.

Shubhankar stars in Satluj’s title win
A fine half-century by Shubhankar Mahindroo propelled Satluj Cricket Academy to an emphatic five-wicket win over DMW,Patiala and win Kundan Premier League played at Kundan International School,Sector 46. Batting first,DMW,Patiala posted a total of 146 runs for the loss of six wickets. Nikhil was the top scorer for the team as he played a knock of 71 runs. For Satluj Cricket Academy,Vishwas Phatak claimed two wickets for 12 runs. Sandeep claimed three wickets for 20 runs. In reply,Satluj Cricket Academy chased the target for the loss of five wickets in 23 overs. Subhankar played a fine knock of 66 runs for the winning team.

Cricket trials today
Chandigarh Cricket Association (affiliated to PCA) will organise trials to select U-19 and senior women team for the upcoming Inter-District Cricket Tournament to be held in August later this year. Interested players are required to report at Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36 today.
