Dumping of construction waste at unauthorised places will soon invite a fine of Rs 1,500. This was decided during a review meeting of the Malba Bylaws sub-committee held on Wednesday. The committee reviewed the draft of the “Disposal of Construction Material,Malba and Debris,By-laws”.

While the bylaws had been principally approved in a meeting of the general house of the Municipal Corporation in 2010,these were never implemented as some changes had been suggested. The members of the sub-committee recommended a fine of Rs 1,500 apart from the charges of removal.

The bylaws will be sent to the Administration for notification. The members further recommended that there should be a flying squad comprising three-members and one security person for keeping watch round-the-clock on anyone throwing construction waste at unauthorised places. Sites for dumping construction waste would be identified.
