IAS officer Puri gets fourth extension in UT

Prerna Puri,who is at present serving as the Secretary of Information Technology and Additional Secretary (Home and Personnel),has been given one years extension till March 31,2014. Her present term was to end on March 31. She is also the Secretary of the House Allotment Committee.
Significantly,this is the fourth time that the Ministry of Home Affairs has granted her an extension to continue work in the UT administration. Sources in the UT Administration said that senior UT officials had persuaded her case with the ministry.
Puri,2006-batch AGMUT-cadre officer,was earlier transferred to Arunachal Pradesh in December 2011. However,those orders were revoked in 2012 after MHA granted her a years extension to continue with the Administration. Significantly,at that time,UT officials had conveyed to the MHA that the Administration was grappling with shortage of officials,and since Puri was handling important departments and vital projects she should be allowed to continue her work with the UT Administration.

Puri,who was initially posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Chandigarh,was given the charge of MC Commissioner,following the repatriation of former MC Commissioner Roshan Sunkaria to his parent cadre Punjab in April,2011.
