City resident Dr Arvind Goyal, who runs a coaching institute to help students prepare for pre-medical exams, has written to the Human Resource and Development Minister asking for action with regard to the issue of errors in class XII Biology textbooks and questions based on these in the AIPMT exam conducted on May 4.
Dr Goyal had filed a PIL in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to highlight errors in class XI and XII Biology textbooks. This was followed by a representation to the CBSE about ambiguous questions in the AIPMT held on May 4, with reference to the textbooks.
Following the representation, CBSE cancelled three questions of the AIPMT paper which were based on the errors and awarded candidates grace marks for the same before announcing the result.
However, Dr Goyal pointed out that the six errors pointed out have not been compensated for by the CBSE. “There is stiff competition among students in AIPMT. If the CBSE acknowledges those erroneous questions then grace marks can be given to student”,” said Dr Goyal who filed a fresh PIL regarding the issue in the high court recently.
He added” “We have requested CBSE to either give grace marks for those six questions or prepare a fresh rank list of students in AIPMT.”
