Project set to attract investment of Rs 200 cr and generate employment for 500 people
The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet cleared setting up of the proposed Biotechnology Park at Aduwal village near Nalagarh in Solan district. To be developed on 35 acres in the public private partnership (PPP) mode,the park will attract an investment of Rs 200 crore and is expected to generate employment for nearly 500 people.
According to the plan finalised by the states bio-technology department with the help of leading British firm Mott MacDonald,the park will have a Biotechnology Incubation Centre on about 1.07 acre and a Biotechnology Industrial Cluster to be developed by a private promoter on about 31.93 acres. Six leading national and international companies have been shortlisted for the job.
The park will contribute significantly towards skill upgrade,technological improvement and capacity building of the states youth, said Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal,who presided over the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
In other decision,the Cabinet approved implementation agreement for small hydro electric projects of up to five mega watt capacity and revised schedule for the projects executed by independent power producers.
The implementation agreement will have to be signed within two months of submission of the detailed project reports (DPRs). The companies will get only 30 months for the preparation of DPRs. However,in case of Lahaul-Spiti district,which remains under snow for six to seven months in a year,the period will be 36 months, said an official statement.
The Cabinet also gave approval to amendment in the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules 1999 and fixed a special registration fee for choice of vehicle numbers. The registration number of 0001 will be available on payment of Rs 75,000; 0002 to 0009 on payment of Rs 50,000; 0010 to 0100 on payment of Rs 35,000 and other special number between 0101 and 9999 on payment of Rs 20,000.

* Approval to amendment in the Himachal Pradesh Legal Services Rules 2004,Judicial Services Authority Rule 1995 and Recruitment and Promotion Rules of District Youth Services and Sports Officers
