The members of the sub-committees constituted in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha have held numerous meetings at locations across the country.
Sample this — the Library Committee of the Vidhan Sabha held around 600 meetings between the April 2005 to January 2015. Of these, 34 meetings were held outside Chandigarh, Haryana and Delhi. Some of the locations where members chose to meet included the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Havelock, Nainital, Pondicherry and Jaipur among other places.

Details of the business transacted by the library committee reveals that in a meeting held on November 15, 2012 a DO was received by the committee on “avoidable expenditure on holding meetings of the committees of Vidhan Sabha outside the State”. Soon after the letter was received, the members of the committee proceeded on a tour to Jaipur and held a meeting there on November 19 with their counterparts in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
Among the functions of the Library Committee is to select books that should be added to the Vidhan Sabha library. The details of the business transactions shows that even at places like Tamil Nadu or Port Blair, during the meetings, books were presented before the committee for selection.
Information obtained by The Indian Express under the Right to Information Act reveals that other committees of the Vidhan Sabha held meetings at such locations as well.
Yet another committee of the Vidhan Sabha, the Committee on Public Undertakings held 68 meetings outside Chandigarh, Delhi and Haryana between 2005 and 2015. These included meetings in Chennai, Havelock, Shimla, Mussoorie, Tirupati, Rameshwaram, Mount Abu, Haridwar, Leh and Srinagar to name a few. As per the records, the members also held a meeting at Nathu La Pass.
In case of the Committee on Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, 29 meetings were held outside the State between 2009-10 to 2014-15.
The members of this committee also chose locations like Shimla, Manali, Jaipur, Udaipur and Ajmer among others for their meetings.
The members of the Committee on Petitions held 22 meetings at different locations between 2009-10 to 2012-13. In 2010-11, of the 84 sittings of the committee, 12 were held in places like Mount Abu, Khajjiar, Goa, Bangalore, Mysore and Kanyakumari. The Public Accounts committee held 20 meetings outside the state and the House Committee members held 27 meetings at locations like Gangtok, Darjeeling, Srinagar and Mussoorie.
