Even though,it was a low scoring match as compared to other matches in the Indian Premier League, but for a packed house at the PCA Stadium,Mohali,it was a chance to see their hosts team Kings XI Punjab and crowd favourite Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in action. With the Kings XI Punjab posting a total of 139 in 20 overs,it was never a chance for the host team to win. And the MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings achieved the target with ease in 17.2 overs.

“We have come from Jalandhar to watch the match. Last time,Kings XI Punjab lost some close matches but this time we are sure that the team will make it to the semi-finals. Manan Vohra played a good knock in the last match and was bit unlucky today. But we are happy that the team played well. They are giving chances to local players which was not the case two seasons ago,” shared Aniket Rana,a Jalandhar student who had come to watch the match. With the Kings XI Punjab team posting a total of runs in the allotted 20 overs, fans got enough opportunity to cheer and leading them was Kings XI Punjab official fan Shabad Sandhu, fondly called as ‘Chota Bheem’. With Singh cheering the team from terrace stand, the fans also followed Singh’s moves and swayed to the dhol beats.

“Shabad is a star of Mohali. He showed that during the Test match against Australia last month. Now that he is the official fan of the Punjab team,he has been leading the way for us. He follows every players of the team and also tells us about the players. We hope that he travels with the team also and boosts their morale. It was also good to see Priety Zinta,” shared Prateek Sihag,a bank employee, who had come with his family to watch the match.

For some of the fans,it was the chance to see Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in action which brought them to the stadium. Fans were also seen chanting ‘Dhoni,Dhoni’ and every time Dhoni collected the ball during Kings XI Punjab’s innings, the fans cheered.

“Chennai Super Kings is one of the best teams in the IPL and the way MS Dhoni has led the team is commendable. Dhoni is also the Indian team’s captain and most of us support him whether he plays for Chennai or any other team. We did come to watch last month’s Test match but with PCA Stadium having nothing to cover to stands,it was a bad experience. That’s why we came to watch this match,” shared Sachin Khurana,a student.

The Korean national cricket team led by their skipper Lee Hwayeon also came to watch the match and the team plans to see the upcoming matches of the IPL too.

Fans had to face massive traffic chaos ahead of the match. Due to the parking problems, most of the fans were left to park their vehicles in nearby markets and walk to the stadium.

Sakshi Dhoni, wife of Indian Skipper Mahendra Sigh Dhoni too watched the match along with Kings XI Punjab team co-owner Preity Zinta in the Pavillion area.
