Amid the uncertain future of the HMT factory, the unit workers have now pinned their hopes on the recent communication from the Prime Minister Office (PMO), which has directed the secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, to look into the matter.
The members of the HMT Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, led by advocate Vijay Bansal, had written to the Prime Minister’s Office on March 18 highlighting the plight of the employees, who have not received their salaries for the last 20 months.
Explaining the present situation of the factory and its revenue generation, the members had requested the Prime Minister to initiate a process of revival of the factory and secure jobs of the employees.
“In reply to our memorandum, the PMO has stated that the matter has been referred to the secretary, Department of Public Enterprises, for an appropriate action. There should not be any kind of discrimination in HMT Pinjore on regional basis. The unit needs a visionary and efficient management willing to work professionally in transparent manner replacing the vision-less management responsible for putting the unit in dark. We have also requested the PM to direct the company to release the salaries of employees,” said Bansal.
