The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has received 1.27 lakh (1,27,764) applications for 1,088 constable posts in the Himachal Pradesh Police. The recruitment process will begin with physical tests from February 6 across the state. The applicants include 88,202 men and 39,562 women, competing for 708 posts for men and 380 posts for women.

Sources said that while the minimum educational qualification required is Class 10+2, many applicants hold higher degrees, including M.Tech, B.Tech, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees. All applicants, who applied online, are bona fide residents of Himachal Pradesh. Eligible candidates are aged between 18 and 29 years, depending on their category. The application window was open from October 10, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

According to officials, the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be conducted in all 12 districts, divided into three police ranges: North Range, South Range, and Central Range. The first PST/PET will take place at the Police Ground, 3rd Battalion Pandoh, in Mandi district on February 6, followed by Una district, where tests will be held at Police Lines Ground Jhalera on February 11. The final test is scheduled for March 27 at Mini Stadium Kalpa in Kinnaur district. Candidates who clear the PST and PET will qualify for the written examination.

An official said that female candidates would undergo testing first, followed by male candidates. All candidates must report to the test venues by 7 a.m. on their designated dates. Meanwhile, HPPSC has issued e-admit cards and advised candidates who have not received theirs to contact the commission for assistance.

Additionally, all recruited police constables will undergo a nine-month induction training program, including a Recruit Training Course (RTC) conducted in batches. Upon completing basic training, recruits will also undergo a Special Commando Course. Failure to pass either the RTC or the Special Commando Course will result in termination of service.
