Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service officer booked for raping woman he met on social media: police

“We lodged an FIR following the complaint of a woman who alleged that she came into contact with the suspect through social media. She claimed that the suspect raped her,” Surinder Singh, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Una, told The Indian Express.

A police officer stated that the victim, a pharmacy student, reported in her complaint that she had met the suspect for the first time when she visited his office for official business. She also said that the HAPS officer allegedly sexually assaulted her at a government rest house.

“A team of forensic experts is scheduled to inspect the location where the crime took place. The Call Detail Record (CDR) of the phones of the victim and the accused are being obtained to confirm the communication between the two,” a police officer said.

The woman also alleged in her complaint that the officer had made objectionable videos on his cell phone.

The medical examination of the victim is underway, the police said.

Sources indicate that the HPAS officer has yet to join the police investigation.

“We are looking for the HPAS officer, who is not available so far in connection with the FIR registered against him,” said Amit Yadav, Superintendent of Police, Una.

The Indian Express tried to contact the officer, but the calls remained unanswered.
