A day after Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu claimed that six former Congress MLAs and three Independents gained Rs 15 crore each for destabilising the Congress government in the state, rebel Sudhir Sharma on Friday said he has sent a defamation notice to the CM.
In his video post, Sudhir Sharma, who was disqualified along with five others for violating a party whip in February, said, “Yesterday CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made a laughable comment that we accepted crores of rupees. Firstly, the CM should not make such baseless statements. I sent him a legal notice for defamation. He (Sukhu) should produce evidence instead of making frivolous allegations.”
Sudhir Sharma, who is now the BJP candidate from Dharamshala, also raised questions about CM Sukhu’s Dubai tour last year to attend an investment summit. He said in his post, “The CM should clarify how he went to Dubai last year from Himachal Pradesh to attend an investment summit that was never held. He attended a private party there.” He also accused the Sukhu government of purchasing products at high costs from certain industries and factories in Baddi, benefiting a particular section of people.
On Thursday, while addressing a public meeting at Samurkalan in Una district, Sukhu alleged that the Congress rebels are corrupt and will go behind bars. He also alleged that Congress rebels who joined the BJP recently will also harm the cause of genuine BJP workers.
Taking strong exception to the language used by Sukhu, the BJP threatened to file a defamation case against him.
Nine legislators had voted in favour of BJP nominee Harsh Mahajan in the Rajya Sabha polls held on February 27. Thereafter, the police had registered an FIR against Independent MLA Ashish Sharma (Hamirpur) and Rakesh Sharma, father of rebel Congress MLA Chetanya Sharma (Gagret), for “electoral offences”, bribery and criminal conspiracy.
