Higher reaches of HP continue to reel under cold waves

There is no let up in the cold wave conditions in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh while the capital also saw a dip in mercury on Saturday. Temperature in Keylong,district headquarters of Lahual and Spiti,was recorded at minus 9.5 degrees Celsius while it was minus 4 degrees at Kalpa,district headquarters of Kinnaur,Met office said. The capital also witnessed a dip in mercury with the minimum temperature plummeting to 4.0 degrees today as against yesterday’s 5.5,sources said. Cold winds continued to blow in Shimla,particularly in the morning and night hours. Temperature in famous tourist destination of Manali also dropped from 2.8 degrees yesterday to 0.2 degrees today,the sources added. There was no report of rain or snowfall from anywhere in the hill state. The Met office has forecast dry weather with not much change in the weather condition in the next 24 hours.
