The UT Administration officials on Wednesday held a meeting as part of the Chandigarh Heritage Conservation Committee (CHCC) meet.
It was proposed that architectural changes would be brought in a new green building to be constructed by the Chandigarh Housing Board. The committee was of the opinion that changes should be brought keeping in view the architectural controls.
The committee also discussed the restoration of the second block of old Architects Building in Sector 19 and recommended that the office of CHCC should be set up within.
The members also approved the proposal of setting up of a new Tourist Information Centre at Capitol Complex. At present,the restriction on sightseeing in Capitol Complex is playing a spoilsport for tourists.
During the meeting,it was also decided to expedite the process of framing heritage regulations for the city.
The UTs heritage regulation draft proposal will be put forward for discussion in a meeting of CHCC for approval. Later,it will be sent to the MoUD for the final approval.
The Chandigarh Heritage Conservation Committee was constituted last year to supervise the architectural preservation plans in the City Beautiful.
The committee,under the chairmanship of KK Sharma,Adviser to UT Administrator,was constituted on the directions of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for the preservation of architectural heritage here.
