The scorching heat has forced candidates, for the Dasuya bypolls,to opt for door-to-door campaigning over big rallies. With the mercury touching 44 to 45 degrees and forcing people to remain indoors, local leaders say it would be difficult to draw crowds for big rallies.

A senior Congress leader reveals that people are refusing to even turn up for village-level meetings. “We will organise some big rallies in the coming days but the number of these would be few as we prefe1r door-to-door campaigning, which is manageable,” he added.

Both, the Congress and BJP,have divided the entire constituency into various zones and have appointed party leaders to each particular zone,to look after the door-to-door campaigning.

A BJP leader also said his party was reluctant to hold big rallies for fear of a low turnout. “We are going to organise some big rallies but at the moment our focus is on door-to-door campaigning and Nukkad meetings,” said Sunny Sahi, the son of BJP candidate Sukhjit Kaur Sahi.
