The National Urban Health Mission would be launched in Punjab soon,said Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Laxmi Kanta Chawla,while talking to the mediapersons on Monday. She said the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) is running successfully in Punjab and now National Urban Health Mission would be launched in Ludhiana,Amritsar and Jalandhar,as pilot a project to improve health parameters in the state.
She said the 20 gram panchayats of villages where female sex ratio has shown considerable improvement would be awarded Rs 1.5 lakh each. Around 45 doctors would be recruited in the department soon. Chawla said filling large number of posts of doctors,lying vacant in government hospitals and dispensaries in the Malwa region,would be given priority. Late she addressed a seminar on female foeticide and drug abuse,at government senior secondary school for girls.
