The manager of a HDFC Bank and his aide have been booked for extortion based on a complain by the owner of the Haveli restaurant. The hotel owner alleged that the accused threatened him and demanded Rs 5 lakh after he found a dead rat in the food served by the hotel. Police said,on Sunday,Karan Khullar,manager of HDFC bank,Phase 11,Mohali,was eating at the restaurant with his family when he found parts of a dead rat in the food. Outraged,he started threatening and blackmailing Kamaljit Singh,the owner of the restaurant. Karan then called his friend,Amandeep Singh,who in turn said he would get the shut down. The duo then demanded Rs 5 lakh from Kamaljit. Kamaljit then approached police and showed them CCTV footage which shows the accused threatening him after which a case of extortion,criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy under sections 384,506 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code was registered.
