Haryana eves thrash hosts Chandigarh to surge ahead

The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Handball Federation of India.

Chandigarh women had to bite the dust on the first day of the All India invitational handball tournament,as they lost to the formidable Haryana team 21-33 at Sector 42 Sports Complex in Chandigarh on Monday. The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Handball Federation of India.

For Haryana,Pinki did superbly well and scored 21 points for her team. Gurmail scored seven points and ably supported Pinky during the match.

The Chandigarh team clearly lacked co-ordination and confidence against the attacking Haryana team.

Once the Haryana team took the lead,it was difficult for the host team to make a comeback into the match. For Chandigarh,Kavita scored the maximum four points.

In other matches of the day,Punjab eves carved out an impressive win against Delhi by beating them narrowly 28-27. Rajwant was unstoppable for the Punjab team,as she went on to score 12 points. From the Delhi team,Sangeeta (10) tried hard to reduce the margin but eventually Punjab managed to beat them.

In the last match of the day,Chhatisgarh team got the better of Uttar Pradesh 28-21 to record a win.
