Harmohan Dhawan demands resignation of CBI DIG, alleges he delayed raid at residence of Bansal’s nephew

Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan on Saturday demanded the resignation of DIG,CBI and investigation of Joint Commissioner,Municipal Corporation.

Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan on Saturday demanded the resignation of DIG,CBI and investigation of Joint Commissioner,Municipal Corporation. Dhawan alleged that DIG Mahesh Aggarwal delayed the raid at the residence of Vijay Singla, the nephew of local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, giving him time to destroy evidence.

After the arrest of Singla on charges of accepting a bribe from a member of the Railway Board, the BJP has been demanding the resignation of Aggarwal.

Dhawan said,“Mahesh Aggarwal was promoted from SP to DIG while on deputation. As per the rules,an official on deputation if promoted has to be transferred to his parental place. And after one and half years he can come back. However due to his proximity to local MP Pawan Bansal rules were bent.”

“When there was a raid at Vijay Singla’s house,Mahesh Aggarwal delayed the raid for 3-4 hours, giving enough time to destroy important papers,” he added.

Dhawan alleged that in another case of bribery,in which Balbir Singh,an inspector with CBI was transferred by Aggarwal to favour the Joint Commissioner,Municipal Corporation. He said,“We have a record of a conversation that was held between a patwari of MC Balraj Singh and Jaswinder Singh, the complainant who wanted NOC for land.

In this record, the patwari has demanded Rs 2 lakh from Jaswinder Singh and he stated that he will keep Rs 20,000 and the rest will be given to Joint Commissioner Rajiv Gupta.”

Dhawan alleged that in this case,Aggarwal helped Gupta. Dhawan alleged that when Balbir Singh refused to delete Gupta’s name,Aggarwal transferred him.

Meanwhile, denying the allegations,Gupta said that the accusations being made are baseless.

CBI spokesperson in a statement issued today have stated that CBI has not ordered any internal enquiry against any of its officer/official in connection with alleged prior ‘leakage’ of information pertaining to searches conducted in Chandigarh in the Bribery for Promotion Case in the Railways. Such reports are incorrect and baseless.

Meanwhile DIG Mahesh Aggarwal ckarified that Balbir Singh who is making allegations was neither the investigating officer of the case where the patwari was caught nor was he involved in laying the trap. Aggarwal further stated that Balbir Singh was transferred by the headquarters after certain allegations were leveled against him.
