Guide maps to be installed soon in Panckula
Panchkula will soon see the installation of guide maps like Chandigarh for every sector.
Panchkula will soon see the installation of guide maps like Chandigarh for every sector.
“There are some sector maps in old areas, which were put up by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA). But they are quite old and disfigured too with posters. Lot of changes within sectors have taken place. Panchkula city is still undergoing lot of development. There is an urgent need for sector maps,” said Ravinder Rawal,President,Municpal Council.
These guide maps will be put on metal poles and will have reflective paints. Further they will be covered with either grill or plastic sheet to avoid any damage by miscreants.
“With the guide maps,we are also planning to have new number indicating boards. I have received lot of complaints in regard of these boards. We have a strange system here where on one side numbers will be from 1 to 42 and on the other side they will be between 300-400. So it confuses lot of visitors who come from outside, especially from Chandigarh,” said Rawal. He added that old boards would be repainted.
“We will transfer the money from development head for both these projects,” he said.
“In Panchkula,it is very difficult to locate a house number. Even people living in the same sector are not able to help. Here, illogically house numbers have been allotted. At some places you will find a number in 800s opposite house number 19. These guide maps and number indicating boards will be useful for residents,” said S K Nayar,President,Citizen Welfare Association.
Municipal Council has also decided to put up speed breakers all over the city. “Speed breakers are planned at junction of B-road to main roads, outside schools and religious places. There are traffic hazard points identified by traffic police. So along with them there are certain slip roads where these will be put up,” said Rawal.
