UT Education Secretary V K Singh on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of an additional block and inaugurated the science exhibition at the Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS),Raipur Khurd.
We are keen on taking up projects of building infrastructure of various schools in and around the city. Schools without the adequate number of classrooms are absolutely unacceptable to me. Hence,I have called for enhancing coordination between the Education Department and the Engineering Department, Singh said.
We must focus on making our schools smart on a par with national standards that include facilities like e-content, he added.
The project worth Rs 3.13 crore will be completed within the coming year. The project will cover an area of 7,380 sq feet and will include 26 rooms,including lab areas for the students.
Chief engineer S K Chadha said,We are all trying to put our best foot forward and make available infrastructure that our children require to give their best at studies. It is hoped that with the completion of the project,the space constraints that the school now faces will be resolved and the school will have proper facilities to accommodate the 10 per cent increase of enrollments each year.
