Complying with the guidelines of the Punjab and Haryana High Court,a group assigned with conducting inspections at various schools of Haryana, announced that the work has been initiated.

Satyavir Singh,Advocate and a member of the group said,“We have conducted inspections in the schools in Panipat,Kurukshetra,Ambala,Yamunanagar and Panchkula districts. We have found the provisions made for students of Economically Weaker Sections (EWS),according to the rules of Haryana School Education Act,1995,lacking in almost all schools, especially in Ambala”.

He mentioned that inspections in Karnal and a few other districts will also be concluded over the next week and a report will be submitted to the High Court soon. The group has also found various irregularities in the schooling systems in these districts and also some officials who have not been acting as per law.

Singh informed that according to section 134 A of the Haryana School Education Act,1995,25 percent seats are to be reserved for EWS students in all government and private schools. However, private schools were found not to be complying with these guidelines. In a report submitted to the High Court by the Haryana government, about 16 percent of the seats in private schools reserved for EWS students remained vacant throughout the year, while only 9 percent were filled.
