A family from Sultanwind of Amritsar was in for a shock of their lives, Tuesday, as they reached Moga city to wed their son. The groom, with his baraat, reached Moga with a hope to return with his newlywed wife but what transpired was beyond their imagination.

The baraat kept roaming across Moga city, trying to locate the bride and her family, but they were nowhere to be found. The family also reached the venue where the marriage was scheduled to take place but found that no such arrangements were in place at that palace, and the owners told them that the venue was not even booked for any wedding Tuesday.

The family told media that the marriage was fixed “via phone” and they had never met the bride and her family physically.
Manpreet Kaur, sister-in-law (brother’s wife) of the groom told media that the matrimonial alliance was fixed via her and the bride was her cousin.

She said that the alliance was fixed via phone and they had never physically met the bride and her family before marriage.

She said, “The bride and her family lives in the UK but they belong to Moga. The marriage was fixed via phone many months ago. They had told us that the venue is Royal Palace, Moga and we should reach there on June 10.”

“However, when we reached here today, there is no such booking at this venue and the family has also not reached here. Yesterday also the girl and her family had spoken to me on phone that they have made all arrangements, but we found no one here today,” said Kaur.

After roaming in Moga for hours, the family left for Amritsar. Police was yet to receive any complaint till the filing of this report.
