Goyal sisters share lead on Day One

As the rest of the chess players took their seats at the St Xavier’s School,Sector 45 hall,Arunima Goyal waited for her sister Tarini Goyal and chatted with her competitors in the competition. At the end of the second round of the Chandigarh Open Prize Money Chess Tournament,the Goyal sisters were again seen discussing their strategies with the duo sharing the lead with two points each. With ten more players sharing the lead along with the Goyal sisters,the duo will need to sharpen their skills during the third round today.

The second round started on a happy note for Arunima Goyal as she scored a win over Ishaan before Tarini Goyal scored a win over Hardeep Mehndiretta. In another match of the second round,co-leader Anil Raina registered a win over Harman Singh while another co-leader Sunil bansal earned a point with a win over Kailash Nath. It was easy going for Harinder Pal as he managed to share the lead with a win over Rajender Nath in the second round while another leader Amartya Bhattacharjee managed to earn a point with a win over Shishir Lamba in the second round.

CFA selects probables

CHANDIGARH: The selection committee of the Chandigarh Football Association has selected 28 probables for forthcoming Sub Junior National Football Championship (for boys) for Coca Cola Cup 2013. The probables were chosen during selection trials held at DAV Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 8 at 4.30 PM. As many as 125 boys turned up for field trials. The selected players will attend coaching camp at DAVSS School ground from April 22. Ajeetesh finishes tied 14th

Chandigarh: Chandigarh youngster Ajeetsh Sandhu finished tied 14th along with Ranjit Singh and Shamim Khan on the concluding day of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Open played at the Royal Cloumbo Golf Club. The Chandigarh golfer finished with an overall score of two-under 282 to claim the tied 14th place. Another Chandigarh golfer Abhijeet Singh Chadha finished at tied 27th place along with fellow Chandigarh player Harmeet Kahlon,Gaurav Ghei and Vikrant Chopra. Delhi’s Chiragh Kumar took home the spoils with a stunning one shot ‘come from behind’ victory in the biggest prize money event ever to be staged by the Professional Golf Tour of India (“PGTI”) in Sri Lanka.
