The Punjab government on Tuesday notified the 67 services,designated officers,first appellate authority,second appellate authority and the stipulated time limit for the purpose of the Punjab Right to Service Ordinance-2011. A government spokesperson said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has cleared the file in this regard. The decision will save people,especially the common man,from harassment due to inordinate delay resulting from cumbersome procedures.
For the 44 services in revenue,health,transport,food and supplies,personnel,housing and urban development,local government,social security and rural water supply and sanitation and one service of home department registration of marriages while the first appellate authority will the sub-divisional magistrate of the concerned sub-division,the second appellate will be concerned deputy commissioner of the district.
For three services of home department regarding arms licenses,the first appellate will be the DC and second appellate will be divisional commissioner. For two services regarding the registration of foreigners,the first appellate will be DIG (Range) and second appellate will be the concerned IG (Zone). For the rest of the 17 services in the home department,while the DSP or SP will be first appellate,the police commissioner or SSP will be second appellate.
