GMSSS-10 gets own kitchen for midday meals

The UT Education Department on Tuesday inaugurated a midday meal kitchen at Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10,which will be managed completely by the School Management Committee.

The UT Education Department on Tuesday inaugurated a midday meal kitchen at Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS),Sector 10,which will be managed completely by the School Management Committee.

In its first such experiment,the Education Department has planned to regularly invite parents of the students to share lunch with the students. There are a total of 2,600 students enrolled in the school at present. The officials said that the project would be initiated for other schools as well after a few months.

So far,the students in all the 104 government schools were being catered to by four kitchens for the midday meals: one each in IHM and BIHM,Sector 42,Hotel Shivalikview,Sector 17,and Government Senior Secondary School,Sector 47.

The school management committee has been assigned the job to formulate and plan menu,ensuring quality of food and execution of the project successfully.
