With the Greater Mohali Area Development (GMADA) starting development works at the Aerotropolis project, the development body hopes to launch the project soon.

The road construction is expected to be completed within a time period of around 18 months.

A GMADA officer told The Indian Express that tenders for the construction of roads in pockets A, B, C and D of the Aerotropolis project had been floated in January this year.

The officer added that the work of road construction shall be competed within 18 months.

According to officials, the development works include the construction of peripheral and grid roads of the pockets. The officer added that the work would be allotted under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

The development of the project will cost around Rs 240 crore and after the completion of the work, the GMADA will launch the projects in phases.

The much-awaited independent township of GMADA will spread in 1,653 acre land and is developed near Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in the city. A major road network is also underway in the area which shall connect the new projects with the National Highways and a 27-km-long Greenfield Highway is also coming up which shall connect the area with National Highway-1 in Sirhind town in Fatehgarh Sahib district.

Another road connecting airport road stretch with Ludhiana Road is also coming up under Bharatmala Pariyojna.

The new project shall have residential plots ranging from 100 square yard to 2000 square yards.

The tentative price per square yard is Rs 40,000.

The president of Mohali Property Consultant’ Association (MPCA), Harpreet Singh Dadwal, said that the GMADA’s project shall stir up the real estate market in Mohali.

It is the first township of GMADA where the development body shall first carry out the developmental works and then launch the project. In previous projects like Eco-city-1 and Eco-city-2 and Aero City, the developmental works were carried out after the launch of project which caused delay in the construction work.
