What if they lose? Gian Chand Gupta sees ‘no point’ pondering scenario of defeat, Congress rival to handle with ‘humility’

Chander Mohan, though, is confident of his win and predicts 70 plus seats for the Congress in the Haryana Assembly elections, results of which will be announced on Tuesday. He said that the BJP will get 17 seats and three will go to other parties/Independents.

Sunday was a day to recoup for the complete Bishnoi family after a hectic month-long campaigning, and brought a chance for the Congress candidate to play with his grandson.

“It was mostly spent playing with my grandson Xarav. It is also my late father Bhajan Lal’s birthday today, so I also did a small ceremony for him at our election office. This morning we woke up slightly late. And till evening it’s just been meeting people and assessing our performance at all booths,” he added.

His wife Seema, son Siddharth and daughter-in-law Shatakshi, who would head for campaigning each day separately, joined him for breakfast on Sunday.

“My mother couldn’t get time during the election (for household chores), so today she spent her entire day deep cleaning the house,” Siddharth said.

Meanwhile BJP’s Gupta started his day with amritsari kulcha and chana, and some physiotherapy sessions. He told this correspondent that he is surely winning the seat and that the exit poll results are wrong.

“It (results) will turn out exactly like what happened in Chhattisgarh when exit polls proved to be wrong. We are making the government in Haryana for sure,” the BJP’s Panchkula candidate said.

“After a month-long campaigning, I woke up one hour late today, had amritsari kulcha and chana for breakfast, did some physiotherapy sessions and some assessment with our booth workers,” he added.

“If I win, I will first thank the people of the city and then immediately get on my agenda of making the city the best of the country,” Gupta said.

When asked, what if he loses, Gupta said, “That is not happening… There is no point in this because I am winning for sure”.

He did not predict the number of seats in Haryana, but expressed confidence that the saffron party would claim a majority.

It was a day to relax for AAP candidate Prem Garg as well. Pawar is content with “standing tall” against Haryana’s “most powerful politicians” as he says winning or losing is not the defining factor.

“Winning or losing this election is not what defines us. What truly matters is that we stood firm in our resolve to fight with honesty, integrity, and goodness. The most satisfying thing during this campaign for me was that we stayed true to our principles and proved that a politics of purity can still thrive, even in the face of overwhelming odds,” he said.

“I am at peace knowing that together, we’ve left a lasting mark on Panchkula – a symbol of hope for a better, cleaner future. We dared to stand tall against some of Haryana’s most powerful politicians, men armed with money and influence. And yet, we never wavered.”

The AAP candidate is satisfied that to get votes he did not engage in liquor and bribery.

“I am happy that we upheld our values, refusing to buy votes or indulging in the dirty politics of liquor and bribes, while truckloads of such things flowed freely from other parties,” he concluded.
