The colonies and villages should be brought at par with the rest of the city, said Congress candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections Pawan Kumar Bansal while addressing a rally at Dhanas village on Sunday.
While assuring that the General Power of Attorney will be allowed in the Chandigarh Housing Board,Bansal also said amendments will be made in building bylaws to necessitate the modification in CHB residences.
Enlisting a series of upcoming developmental works in progress,Bansal said over Rs 4.5 crore has been allocated for the construction of a bridge connecting Panjab University and Dhanas. He added that the Rehabilitation Settlement Bill has already been passed in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking on the occasion,Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee President B B Bahl lashed out at the Opposition and said Harmohan Dhawan is a seasonal politician who only emerges during poll season waving flags of a different party at every election.

Former Punjab minister Jagmohan Singh Kang,former mayor Pardeep Chhabra,area councillor Sheela Phool Singh,Poonam Sharma,Davinder Singh Babla and Pawan Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
The party had also organised a youth rally in Sector 20 on Saturday.
SAD member offers support to Congress
Member of the Shiromani Akali Dal,Kesar Singh,has extended his support to the Congress. A Congress flag was installed atop his house by Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal. Kesar Singh has held various posts,including that of District President (Rural) as well as the chairman of the market committee. Kesar Singh said since no candidate of the Akali Dal is contesting from the city,he found Bansal to be a suitable candidate. The incident comes as a jolt for the BJP,as Akali Dal is part of the NDA.
BSP candidate flags off Sai Baba palki
Chandigarh: BSP candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections Harmohan Dhawan flagged off the Sai Baba palki procession at the Sai Mandir,Sector 29,here on Sunday. Adding momentum to his poll campaign,he also addressed few public meetings at Railway Colony in Manimajra,Booth Market in Mauli Jagran and Faida village. His wife Satinder Dhawan,meanwhile,addressed a huge gathering of women at K-Block of Colony No 5. The couple also welcomed the Sai Baba palki at their residence this evening.
Kumari Selja holds public meetings
Ambala: The Union Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja,who is seeking a re-election from the Ambala reserved Lok Sabha seat,addressed a series of public meetings as part of her election campaign on Sunday. The meetings were held at Kesri,Saha,Barara and Ambala Cantonment. She said that there was no anti-incumbency factor against her party. Former minister Nirmal Singh,DCC President N S Shera and other party leaders also spoke on the occasion.
