Garewal to lead Chandigarh’s challenge

Chandigarh golfer to play in the USHA Karnataka Golf Tournament in Bengaluru.

Viraj Madappa,Manu Gandas and Feroze Garewal,winners of the first three events on the 2013 IGU Juniors schedule,will lead a galaxy of youngsters in the Usha Karnataka golf which tees off at the Eagleton Golf Club today.

Madappa won the season-opening IGU-UP Juniors,while Garewal emerged winner in the IGU-Haryana Juniors and Manu Gandas claimed his first title of the year at Usha Delhi Juniors last month. This will be the fourth event of the 11 competitions announced so far by the Indian Golf Union. The field at the Eagleton Golf Course in Bidadi will feature nearly 60 players in Category A and B. While Madappa,Garewal and Gandas have won one event each,others who have shone so far this year include the likes of Kartikey Vashisht,Tutul Ali,Piyush Sangwan and Sardan Mohan.

Meanwhile,Chandigarh golfer Angad Cheema will be playing in the PGTi Feeder Tour event to be held in Faridabad from today. The 20-year-old golfer,who became the national amateur champion last year will be seen competing against the likes of Kapurthala golfer Ashbeer Saini,Abhinav Lohan and Honey Baisoya in the Rs Six Lakh prize money event which will be played from May 21 to May 23. The tournament is being organised by the Professional Golf Tour of India and will be played in Faridabad.
