For the first time, the UT Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA) will start e-auction of fancy numbers of series CH-01-BG from April 22.
RLA incharge Amit Talwar said that the process of e-auction would be a 10-day affair, seven days reserved for registration and three days for bidding. The software had been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and successfully tested.
How system will work
Those interested in getting number of their choice will have to register on the official website of Chandigarh Administration to get unique acknowledgement number (UAN). Thereafter, the applicant will have to deposit demand draft of reserve price fixed for the fancy number and registration fee of Rs 500 for taking part in the auction. The registration of the bidder will be approved by RLA and the applicant will receive a system-generated login ID and password through SMS and email.
As per norms, one person can bid for a maximum of five registration numbers of choice per UAN per vehicle. However, for applying for numbers for more than one vehicle, one will have to register separately.
While bidding, the bidder can change the amount of bid by multiples of Rs 1,000 for each category. The numbers will be allocated to the highest bidders in each category. In case more than one applicant apply at minimum reserve price and where no further incremental bids are made by any of the applicants, the registration number will be allotted through random selection.
The successful bidder is required to get the vehicle registered as well as to deposit the balance bid amount within one month from the date of auction, failing penalty of 10 per cent as well as interest at the rate of 10 per cent on balance amount will be charged till the date of payment. The result of the auction will be out up on the website and the successful bidders will be informed through SMS and e-mail.
Reserve price doubled
RLA has doubled the reserve price of fancy numbers in different categories.
The reserve price of number 0001 has been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. Similarly, the reserve price for numbers between 0002 and 0011 has been enhanced to Rs 30,000. People will also have to pay Rs 30,000 for 10 other numbers, comprising 0022, 0033, 0044, 0055, 0066, 0077, 0088, 0099, 0100 and 0101. Reserve price of numbers such as 110, 121, 123, 151, 202 4040, 4848 etc has been increased to Rs 10,000.
