Four persons,including a newly born child,were killed and two injured in a collision between an ambulance and a container near Naggal police station on Chandigarh-Hisar National Highway on Monday night.
The government ambulance carrying the newborn and five others,including the mother,was on its way to PGIMER,Chandigarh. The ambulance had started from Kaithal hospital,which had referred the newborn to PGIMER in serious condition. The child was born a day back and required intensive care.
However,as the ambulance reached near the Naggal police station,driver Dilbagh Singh tried to overtake a container and rammed the ambulance into it.
Four persons,including the child and driver,were killed and two other occupants injured seriously. Apart from the driver,the deceased were identified as Naresh Kumar,Sunil and the child. The injured were Mohinder and Murti Devi,the mother of the child.
The police reached the spot and rushed all the victims to the civil hospital in Ambala City. From there,the injured were referred to PGIMER.
