Four persons were injured on Monday at Gholian Khurd village of Nihal Singhwala in Faridkot district after two groups clashed over construction of a water drain needed for irrigating the fields.
According to the police,the clash started over a water canal in the village that was used by five families to irrigate their fields.
SHO Partap Singh Nihal Singhwala said,Some farmers of the neighbouring village felt that their water supply was being interrupted by this channel and thus,they came to destroy it. Following this,there was a clash. We are still in the process of recording the statement of both the groups after which,the FIR will be registered.
The clash reportedly broke out between Sukhdev Singh of Raonke Kalan and Jaswinder Singh of Gholiyan.
The injured,identified as Sukhdev,his brother Gurdial Singh and nephew Sukhwinder Singh,have been referred to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot. Another injured,Jaswinder Singh,is undergoing treatment at Moga.
We are trying to find out whether both sides had fired. While one group claims it did not have any weapon,yet we people from both the sides have got hurt. A 12 bore gun was used in the clash. I have recorded the statement of Jaswinder Singh and am on my way to Faridkot to record the statement of the three admitted there, said Partap Singh.
