With the aim of discussing the issue of need based changes,a meeting was held between the representatives of various Resident Welfare Associations of Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) dwelling units affiliated with FOSWAC with the Chandigarh Housing Board today.
The associations have stressed on the immediate need of fixation of the additional charges and the compounding fees for the need based changes/relaxation in the CHB units. Also they have demanded extension of minimum two years for submission of the revised drawings of these need based changes to the Board authorities.
While the CHB Secretary clarified to the other party that they are surveying need-based changes in different categories of CHB dwelling units to know the extent of changes made by the occupants in order to avoid taking action against them on pick and choose basis. Also on the basis of the survey,additional need-based changes will be done wherever possible.
The authorities also declared that they will shortly start the transfer of CHB dwelling units of GPA holders,who have purchased the units on expiry of five years. Also,the cases of purchase of dwelling units within time period of less than five years is under active consideration. FOSWAC Chairman P S Sanghi suggested incorporation of need-based changes in the standard drawings of different categories of houses by the CHB architect department.
