Forwards star in Chandigarh’s win over Kerala

Seven goals each by Deepa,Khila and Khushboo guided hosts Chandigarh to a 35-22 win over Kerala in the All India Invitational handball championship being organised by Chandigarh Sports Department being played at Sector 42 Stadium.

In the Pool A encounter,Chandigarh team scored 35 goals against 22 goals scored by Kerala. Deepa,Khila and Khushboo netted seven goals each while Kavita and Veena scored four goals each. Nishu scored three goals. For the losing team,Naina scored nine goals while Anju scored Rosemary scored four goals. Anju scored three goals.

In another match of the day,Uttar Pradesh scored a narrow 25-24 win over Delhi. Sonam was the top scorer for the winning team as she scored nine goals. Gurpreet Kaur scored eight points while Sonika and Supriya netted three goals each.

For the Delhi team,Sanju scored nine points each while Priti scored eight goals. Manisha scored four goals.

It was easy going for Kerala in their second encounter of the day as they registered a 39-7 win over Jammu and Kashmir. Naina netted 15 goals for the winning team while Anju scored 14 goals. Jayapriya scored five goals. For Jamu and Kashmir team,Prerna and Arushi scored two goals each.

Earlier on Monday,Punjab registered a narrow 31-30 win over Chhattisgarh in a Pool B encounter. Rajwant netted 18 goals for the winning team while Ramanjot,Savita and Pawandeep scored three goals each. For the losing team,Anita Roi scored seven points while Durga Tiwari scored six goals. Bharika scored five goals while Rupa scored four points in the losing cause. In another match,Haryana scored a 48-18 win over Kerala. Rimpi was the top scorer for the team as she scored 12 goals.
