On the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court,the medical examination of a follower of Sirsa Dera Sacha Sauda,Hans Raj Chauhan was conducted on Thursday at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 16 (GMSH-16).
However,the medical tests remained inconclusive as the harmones test,which was to determine Chauhan’s allegations of being forcibly castrated,could not be done at the hospital. The medical board has referred him to the PGIMER for the test.
Hans Raj Chauhan had alleged that he along with around 400 dera followers were castrated at the behest of Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Following the allegations,the Punjab and Haryana high court had ordered his medical examination to be conducted.
A panel of three doctors comprising SMOs (Senior Medical Officers) including one from Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 16(GMSH-16) and two doctors from Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32 (GMCH-32) conducted certain tests.
Chauhan was accompanied by around a dozen people. The final report will be prepared only after the test report is sent from PGIMER,said an official from GMSH 16.
Significantly,the bench headed by justice Mahesh Grover directed that Chauhan should present himself before Government Medical Speciality Hospital in sector 16,Chandigarh,on October 18 for his medical examination.
