Around 30 students who were appearing for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level Examination 2015 were unable to take their exam at various centres across Chandigarh Sunday, for arriving late. As per the instructions issued by the SSC, the candidates had been instructed to arrive at the examination centres latest by 1.30 pm, as the exam was to start at 2 pm.

Around 15 students at Government Model High School, Sector 37-C, were not allowed to take the exam. Silky Saluja, a resident of Patiala who had come to take the exam at the school, said, “I reached the examination centre at 1.35 pm, and was stopped by the security guards. Even after pleading to them to let me write the exam, they did not let me enter.”

Kunjan Jindal, another resident of Patiala who was supposed to take the SSC exam at Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 22-A, where 15 students were again unable to enter the examination hall, said, “I reached the examination centre about five-seven minutes after 1.30 pm, as I had trouble looking for the school. On reaching, I was just not allowed to enter inside.”

Many students also criticised the lack of examination centres in cities such as Jalandhar and Patiala.

A student said, “I had applied to take the examination from Patiala, but I was allotted Chandigarh in the absence of centres at Patiala. This is actually really unfair to residents in such cities.”

The students who were unable to take the examination on Sunday are now hoping that they will be granted permission to take the examination on August 30.
