Five killed in two road accidents

Five persons including three members of a family were killed in two different accidents in Panchkula district,police said.

Five persons including three members of a family were killed in two different accidents in Panchkula district,police said.

Three members of a family including a six-year-old boy from Parwanoo were killed on the spot when their scooter was hit from behind by a speedy truck at around noon on Kalka-Shimla national highway. The scooter was being driven by Kamal Kumar and they were on way to a doctors clinic.

“Kumar was riding the scooter when a speedy truck bearing hit the two-wheeler from behind near Kalka. The truck driver fled,leaving the vehicle behind. The trio fell on the road and were also stuck under the truck for some time. They were shifted to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead,” said Station House Officer of Kalka Police station,Inspector Mukesh Kumar. The deceased were identified as Kamal Kumar,his daughter-in-law Joyti and grandson Tanshik.

A case was registered against the driver and police also impounded the vehicle involved in the accident. The driver of the truck,Rakesh Kumar of Himachal later surrendered before the police.

In a separate accident two labourers on a motorcycle were killed when a tractor trolley overturned and hit them at Mouli village in Barwala.
