First PCA non-residential academy opens in Ludhiana

The Ludhiana District Cricket Association,affiliated to the Punjab Cricket Association,rolled the first of the six non-residential cricket academies for the 13-15 years age group,being envisaged by the PCA as its pioneer project,for unearthing young talent for states cricket reservoir.

The Ludhiana District Cricket Association,affiliated to the Punjab Cricket Association,rolled the first of the six non-residential cricket academies for the 13-15 years age group,being envisaged by the PCA as its pioneer project,for unearthing young talent for states cricket reservoir. Rahul Tiwari,Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner,inaugurated the academy at Arya College Cricket Ground in Ludhaina in the presence of Executive Committee of LDCA and coaches and senior players of the district. Twenty players have been selected for the academy after trials which were conducted by a panel of experts from the state association. The composite group of players includes three openers,one wicket keeper,six middle-order batsman,six fast bowler and four spinners. The selected players would be training under coach Satwinder Singh.

Cricket tournament for
Under-14 from April 20

CHANDIGARH: A total of eight teams would take part in the 4th Under-14 Summer Cup cricket trophy,being organised by the Kundan Cricket Academy,starting from April 20. The final match would be played on April 30. The matches would be of 20 overs each while the semi-final and the final match would be of 25 overs. The teams would be divided into two pools,and the winner and the runner up team will get a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,500 respectively. The man of the series will get Rs 1,000,and the best bowler and best batsman will get Rs 500 each. The last date for entry is April 19 and interested teams can contact at 09988025685,09803023400, between 4 to 6:30 pm. All the matches would be played at Kundan Cricket Academy Grounds in Sector 46.

Basketball trials for sub-junior cagers today

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Basketball Association would conduct trials on April 17 at New Public School,Sector 18,Chandigarh,from 5 pm,for the selection of the sub-junior players. Players born on or after 01.01.1999 are eligible to take part in the trials. Players should get their date of birth certificate duly signed from the head of the institution along with a trial fee of Rs 75 per head. The selected players will then attend a coaching camp before they take part in the 39th Sub-Junior National basketball championship,to be held in Goa from May 6 to 12.

Chandigarh State Boxing tourney from April 29

Chandigarh: The 35th Junior Men and Ninth Women Chandigarh State Boxing Championship will be held at Sector 42 Sports Complex,Sector 42,from April 29. Boxers born in the year 1994 and 1995 are eligible to take part in both the categories. All the boxers are required to bring the authority letter signed from the head of the institution along with original date of birth certificate and I-Card/medical book of IBF at the time of weigh-in at 8 am on April 29. The men’s and women’s teams for the National Championship will also be selected after the championships.

Kho-Kho trials for sub-junior nationals tomorrow

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Kho-Kho Association will conduct trials on April 18 to select Chandigarh probables for the upcoming 24th Sub-junior National Kho-Kho Championship for boys and girls to be held at Jharkhand from April 30 to May 3. The trials would be conducted at Maharishi Dayanand Adarsh Vidyalaya,Sector 22,at 4.00 pm. Players who are under the age of 14 years,are eligible to appear for the trials. The players must come in proper kit along with their school I-cards.
