The police arrested Sector 41 resident Ram Phal,52,who had allegedly shot at his daughter Poonam with his .32 bore licensed revolver at their residence on Sunday evening.
The accused was arrested on Monday morning from Sector 42 lake. Later,he was produced in a local court which sent him in a one-day police remand. The remand has been taken to ascertain the reason why the accused had shot at his daughter. Police were also verifying the license of the gun used in the incident.
Poonam was still at PGIMER and was undergoing treatment.
On Sunday evening,Ram Phal,a senior auditor at AG Haryana,Sector 33,had allegedly fired at Poonam after an argument over his drinking habit. The bullet hit the victim in her chest,and was rushed to hospital by her brother and mother. Ram Phal had fled the spot . Police had registered a case of attempt to murder and included sections of the Arms Act against the accused at Sector 39 police station.
