A house in Sector 21 was found burgled by the owner,86-year-old Amrik Singh Ahluwalia, when he returned home after a week-long vacation.
A retired Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer,Ahluwalia said burglars took away nearly Rs 45,000 and other valuables.
I was shocked to see my house ransacked when I returned after a week-long trip. The burglars broke into the house from the gallery and broke open locks to take away cash. They also stole valuables belonging to my children, said Ahluwalia, who lives alone in the house.
He added that he has lodged a complaint with the Chandigarh Police that visited the house and took stock of the situation.
However, when contacted,a police official at the Sector 19 police station said that no formal complaint had been received by IRS officer Ahluwalia.
Countering this,Ahluwalia told Newsline,I already have given a written complaint to the police demanding immediate action.
