Doing best for patient care, says GMCH’s Dr Kaur

Instrumental in maintaining blood donation above 85 per cent at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Dr Ravneet Kaur, professor and head of the department of transfusion medicine, gives top priority to encourage people to come to different centres to donate blood.

“It leads to better quality management and of course, helps us take the programme to another level,” says Kaur, who will be awarded for meritorious service by the Chandigarh Administration on Independence Day.

Credited for starting plateletpheresis, therapeutic plasma exchange, 100 per cent component preparation, Kaur has also contributed to starting MD Transfusion Medicine in the department.

“It has been a journey of learning and doing the best for patient care, and improving quality services. It is a great honour to get this award and I want to thank all the blood donors, NGOs, my students, who have been instrumental in giving this programme such success,” says Kaur.
