A day after SAD-BJP combine created history by returning to power in Punjab for the second term in a row and attributed the victory largely to the visible development in the state,Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday said that it was difficult for the states to address issues like unemployment, poverty and inflation with limited funds and resources at their disposal.
Accompanied by his son Sukhbir Singh Badal,daughter-in-law and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Badal,Harsimrats brother and Majitha MLA Bikram Singh Majithia,Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu and other leaders,Badal was in Amritsar to pay obeisance at Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple.
States have lesser rights. It is difficult to address the issues like unemployment, poverty and inflation with limited funds and resources. The Centre has even snatched the rights conferred to the states by the Constitution, Badal told mediapersons after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple.
Responding to a query on some Akali heavyweights losing the polls,Badal said that at times,an attempt to score a goal does not bring the desired result. But,overall, the SAD-BJP combine had scored a goal. It was immaterial to go into details as to whether the goal had been scored with a short corner or with a penalty corner, he added.
About his visit to the religious shrines on Wednesday,Badal said he had come to thank the Almighty for blessing the SAD-BJP combine. I have prayed to the Almighty for giving us power to live up to the expectations of the people again, Badal said.
Badals were honoured at the SGPC information centre by the SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar. Earlier, they were presented Siropas by Darbar Sahib head Granthi Bhai Jaswinder Singh.
