Former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan and former MP Satya Pal Jain and incharge of the legal and legislative cell of BJP while accusing the Congress led UPA government of adopting an attitude of indifference towards the problems of the city, alleged that nothing was being done to solve any issues faced by Chandigarh during the last eight years of its rule.
They urged the Union Home Minister to visit Chandigarh and hold atleast one meeting of the Home Ministers Advisory Committee on UT,and meet the prominent residents of the city to know the plight of the people living here.
In a joint statement issued on Thursday,Dhawan and Jain said that thousands of people have made need based changes in their houses and instead of regularising them, the Congress government is threatening to demolish them. Even in May,people are not able to get adequate water and electricity, read the statement.
The two added that the quota of Kerosene Oil has been drastically reduced. Red line has not been extended even by an inch. The furniture market has not been rehabilitated after the incidents of fire, they claimed.
Dhawan and Jain warned the Centre that the residents of Chandigarh will not tolerate this discriminatory attitude and if the government does not mend its ways,it should be ready to face mass agitation.
