Deepa,Ravindra top in NIS diploma course exams

After qualifying from the institute,these coaches are eligible to take coaching jobs at various levels.

Patiala: Deepa Chaudhary obtained 752 marks out of 1000 in athletics while Ravindra Singh bagged 331.5 marks out of 400 in basketball,to emerge as overall toppers in the final examination of the ten-month diploma course in sports coaching by Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports,Patiala. After qualifying from the institute,these coaches are eligible to take coaching jobs at various levels. Out of the 267 students who appeared in the final exams,265 students successfully passed their exams. Raninder Singh,president of Rifle Association of India,was the chief guest on the occasion.

TT tourney on the anvil

Chandigarh: The Millennium School,Mohali,will organise a Tricity table tennis inter-school tournament on May 4 and May 5,for both boys and girls. Competitions will be held in categories like Cadet Under-12,sub-junior Under-15 and junior Under-18. DAV cricketers shortlisted

Chandigarh: Navneet Singh,Abhinav Sharma and Karan Sharma from DAV Senior Secondary School,Punjab have been selected to attend the seven-day special coaching clinic to be conducted by Cricket India Academy,at the Bharat Nagar Ground,Delhi. These players were picked on the basis of their performance in the U-16 Inter-State Leg of the Coca-cola Cricket Cup,which on concluded on Tuesday. A total of 24 players has been selected for this coaching clinic. The clinic will be conducted by Martin Gleeson (Technical Adviser,Cricket India Academy),Dr. Sanjay Bhardwaj (Level III coach,BCCI),Saba Karim (Former Indian Cricketer),Iqbal Thakur (Former Ranji Player,Western Railway) and Abhishek Shekhawat. The clinic will be conducted in three sessions. Following the seven-day clinic,the Coca-Cola XI will be selected to travel to Sri Lanka and play a three-match series against the Sri Lankan National Under-16 side from May 27 to June 3.

DPS Pinjore cagers shine

Panchkula: DPS Pinjore bagged fourth position in the recently concluded North Zone-Inter DPS basketball tournament for girls (open) held at DPS Bathinda. The DPS Pinjore girls team comprised Jasneet Kaur (captain),Saumya Raj,Kanishka Tomar,Shelja Narayan,Anjali,Ravneet Kaur,Simranjeet,Komal Preet,Baljeet,Tushita Chanta and Simran Chanta. Jasneet Kaur bagged a gold medal for the best player of the team.
