Death in custody: ASI,2 constables booked after kin of deceased block rail tracks

They alleged that Kumar,a resident of Ravi Das Majri,had died in custody.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and two constables posted at a police post in Ambala City were booked in a murder case after the relatives of one Ram Kumar blocked the railway road in front of post. They alleged that Kumar,a resident of Ravi Das Majri,had died in custody.

The relatives of Kumar insisted that the ASI and the two constables be arrested,alleging that their kin was handcuffed and then murdered in detention,after which they dumped his body on the railway tracks. They lifted the dharna only after DCP Vinod Kaushik and DC Pandurang ordered registering of a murder case against the accused.

According to sources,Ram Kumar and his friendVikram were handed over to the police by residents of Majri after they found them committing theft. Next morning,the residents found Kumar’s body on the railway tracks near the Ambala City railway station with handcuffs still on,while Vikram was stated to be untraced.
