DAV College,Chandigarh cornered glory and clinched the Panjab University Inter-College Rowing (Men) Championship for the session 2012-13. Meanwhile,Deptt. of Evening Studies,PU,Chandigarh,SGGS College,Chandigarh and PU Campus,Chandigarh secured second,third and fourth positions respectively.

Neel shocks Mankeerat to lift U-10 title

Mohali: Neel Singh Dhaliwal stunned everyone as he shocked top seed Mankeerat 4-2,5-4(7-5) to claim the boy’s Under-10 category in the British Total tennis championship being held at Mohali on Tuesday. After winning the first set comfortably by 4-2,both the players went neck to neck till the eight game when,in the tie-breaker,Neel kept his nerves and took a crucial 5-3 lead. However,Mankeerat fought back and snatched two points to make it 5-5. Neel didn’t lose his nerves and won the next two points to emerge victorious. In the men’s category,Manjot Singh whitewashed Nikhil Sandhu 4-0,4-1,to claim the title. Manjot looked in total control of the match and conceded just one game to Nikhil. In the boy’s Under-12 category,Manvir Singh claimed the title by defeating Pranav Chopra 4-0,4-0 in a lop-sided final match. The boy’s Under-14 title went to Siddharth as he prevailed over Jaideep 4-0,2-4,10-7 in an exciting encounter.
