DAV chips in to help the poor

This is the eigth such time that Navsankalp has helped an underprivileged family deal with its medical bills.

A month ago,Sompal,a labourer from Raipurjattan in Karnal district, was staring down the barrel after his six-month old son was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. That’s when Navsankalp,a charity association of DAV College,Sector-10,stepped in and donated Rs 80,000.

“My son has finally been operated, but he cannot speak. According to doctors he will take another 2-3 months to regain his voice. But,he is safe now. I could not have afforded such a huge amount of money for surgery,” Sompal says.

This is the eigth such time that Navsankalp has helped an underprivileged family deal with its medical bills. The donations are made by student members of the organisation and Dr Anuradha Jatana from PGIMER,who also takes responsibility of selecting the patients in need of financial aid. The organisation has so far provided financial assistance to 22 children.
