CTCC head meets Rahul,discusses city situation

The events that followed the arrest of Bansal’s nephew eventually led to the Congress asking Bansal to step down from the post of the Minister for Railways. In a meeting of Congress presidents of the Union Territories,Bahl held a discussion on different issues pertaining to the city.

Gandhi reportedly asked Bahl about the situation in the city following the allegations against Bansal’s relative.

Bahl,when contacted,said that the party is firmly behind Pawan Bansal. “The whole unit of the party is with Pawan Bansal and is supporting him. I held discussions with Rahul Gandhi about the problems of the residents including the need for change in the bylaws. I have also demanded that those staying in houses for the economically weaker sections be allowed to expand their houses,” said Bahl.

A Congress leader said that discussion has been held with Gandhi about the situation of party in the city keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections. It is after an assessment of the situation that the future course of action will be decided by the party.

Speculation is already rife about the leaders from the Centre who could be shifted to the city in case the need arises.

The party seems to have adopted a wait and watch policy. Bansal’s fate currently depends on the CBI investigations.

Meanwhile,several Congress leaders met Bansal who was in the city on Sunday.

Apart from other leaders who met him,Bahl also held a meeting with the MP. Bansal has asked the Congress leaders in the city to carry on with the development work.

A Congress leader said that they have been asked by the MP to meet city residents and hear out their problems. Bansal has also asked them to tell him in case some work needs to be done.
